DevWorx Site : Install guide

Note: this is for version 3.0 only, please refer to install.html in root folder of older versions.

Installation


First steps:


1. Install location:
(By default, the folders should be in "\InetPub\wwwRoot" for IIS and PWS)
(You may view the site at "http://server" where "server" is the computer name for web server. Content Management is installed in "http://server/cm" for administration.) Directory Structure is as follows...

wwwroot (root folder)
  |--- /db (databases)
  |--- /cm (content management)
  |--- /live (minichat & messenger)
  |--- /projects (projects)
  |--- /mydev (mydev)

DevWorx site needs to be installed in the root folder of the server http://server/
Default page is assumed to be index.asp
To run on your own server, go to http://localhost/

2. Database locations:
/_db.asp add or remove databases for site in this file in the root folder


3. Customization:
First open siteinfo.txt in the root folder and change the information to suit your needs.
Also in this file you will see datapath = "/db/" if you put your databases in a different folder, change this to reflect that.
Open the file style.css
change the corresponding colors and images to match your tastes...

Controlling your site:


1. Administration login:
Open site in browser after data config and click on Site Administration at the bottom of the page or click here.
The first time you login use these:
User Name: admin
Password: admin


2. Content Manager:
The Content Manager options page looks like this...

Database Admin - (Used to administer all databases)
Site Reports - (Site stats & configuration)
Projects - (Edit project information)
User Data - (Edit users or make changes)
Forum Admin - (Edit posts & admin options)
